I had a checkride on Sunday, Feb 21 at KGIF, Winter Haven,FL. While doing my homework I came across 3 TFR's for Space Operations. First was the usual one around the Cape, extending into the Atlantic. There were 2 additional TFR's depicted on the aeroplanner.com planning chart, issued one day after (Feb 20) the usual around the Cape (issued Feb 19). Those were of major concern as they extended from the east coast to the west coast from the surface to unlimited. They had the official FAA designations and were depicted on my planning chart. When I discussed this with my examiner, she told me the FAA did not have those 2 additonal TFR's on the FAA website, only the one around the Cape. We called Washington Center-they did not know about it. We called Miami Center, they did not know about it either.

VERY strange.

What happened here? Was aeroplanner showing some TFR's that were not real or was the FAA "closed" on Sunday?

Chris,

We researched recent TFRs and believe the ones you reference were numbers 0/7238 and 0/7240 - 0/7245, issued 2/19. They're gone from AeroPlanner now so we can't look at the exact shape, but from your description, they probably plotted possible Orbiter recovery tracks into TTS. We can't explain why they weren't on the FAA website.

Regards,

Rick
